CHILD OF GOD- Hilary L Hunt MD

Are you a child of God , and if so, how does that work for you? I’m 86 years old and I suspect that during those 86 years, I’ve heard that expression at least fifty thousand times. If you profess to be a Christian, the likelihood is that you’ve heard it many, many times also. Every priest, deacon, preacher, Sunday school teacher and religion instructor of any kind has thrown that statement at us on a continual basis. Like so many things we hear in the religion sphere, we are lectured to and ask to believe assertions with implicit faith, but with no suitable explanation as a basis for our faith—we call that blind faith.

Off the top of my head, I know of at least one place in the Bible where that assertion is made—1 John, 3:2. Paraphrased, it says ‘we are God’s children now, but when we see him as he truly is, we will be like him’. Of course, if we are like God, then we are God. So maybe all those millions of assertion we have heard about being children of God are true. But could you explain to me or anyone else just how that is possible? God is a spirit existing in eternity—he has no DNA to impart to anyone. Furthermore, God has no goddess with whom to mate and generate offspring.

Have you ever asked your priest or preacher to explain how we come to be children of God, and , if so, what response did you get? Every time I’ve asked such questions, I get told to ‘just accept it’. I have heard somewhere along the line the explanation that we are ‘adopted’ by God and therefore are his children—I suppose that’s a pretty good answer if we could believe it. For some strange reason, answers like that never satisfied me—I always wanted a realistic, scientific, philosophically sound reason for accepting anything ‘in belief’. Just because somebody says something, doesn’t make it so. The great philosopher Socrates proclaimed to the world that we should “question everything”—the Greek elite killed him for saying so—they wanted ‘nobody’ questioning them—sounds a little like the Jesus story doesn’t it?

My natural inquisitive mind forced me to search for answers—there is, in fact, a specific reason for every truth—the trick is to find (discover) it. That is basically what science is—the word science comes from the Latin word scientia which means knowledge, and knowledge of course is truth. We also know that God is all truth. We know that truth because I have defined God’s essence in irrefutable terms—God is a perfect rational being. That definition says it all—nothing can be added—nothing can be deleted.

So you might ask what that definition has to do with us being ‘children of God’, and I would say ‘everything’. Through the attainment of knowledge by use of the scientific process, we know that everything in existence is made of identically the same things—tiny particles of energy called quanta (plural for quantum). Each of those particles is perfect in both form and function, is identical and indistinguishable from its counterparts, and, more importantly, never changes. That ‘never changes’ part is where the “rub’ comes in—its astonishing; they all exist in eternity. Since there is nothing in eternity except God and his eternal creation, we are destined to ‘be with him as his child. In fact our entire make-up exists already in eternity. That is a startling revelation—we are living now in an ever-changing universe, while at the same time, all of our ‘building blocks’ exist in eternity—pretty amazing, eh?

Now you are equipped to lecture adroitly on the principle dictums of Jesus. I am convinced that Jesus understood that concept perfectly. He didn’t know anything about particle physics, but he could see the universal selfishness in the world. He knew that atonement must be made. He recognized the image of God, not only in himself, but in all of creation. His awareness told him, that since no one else understood that principle, he ‘had to be the chosen one’—he had to be the sacrificial lamb—he was a child of God also.

It is quite obvious to me, that while the majority of people are extremely busy creating discord by peddling disinformation about God and Jesus, the real thinkers who have divorced themselves from that nonsense, are busy discovering truth. Little by little, we are gradually gaining a glimpse into the workings of that Perfect Intellect which we call God. Its a beautiful thing.

SACRIFICE-Hilary L Hunt MD

SACRIFICE- now here’s a word that imparts a feeling of dread and drudgery, and well it should. How many times in our daily lives we are called to sacrifice our time, energy, talents and money for others. Most often it is for our family members, but frequently it may be for neighbors, friends or even total strangers. The question is ‘why do we do that?’. One might answer in various ways—sense of duty, sympathy, empathy (do unto others….). Regardless of the exact reason or attitude, sacrifice is always done because of one basic value and that is love.

Love is the eternal joy of acceptance we experience in knowing we have helped someone in need, whatever that need may be. We all, in one way or another, tend to be sacrificial in our attitude toward others—some of us more readily willing than others. I seems from a psychological standpoint that the easier life has been for us the less urgency we feel to sacrifice for others. Some might consider that to be selfish and, indeed, many times it might be. However, I suspect that more often it is due to lack of awareness—if you haven’t experienced it, you may not appreciate it. So I suppose we could say that difficulties in life can be chastening.

So what’s my point—don’t allow yourself to get caught in the trap of judgmentalism. Just because a person may seem to you to be insensitive, it may not be the case at all. Just because you as a specific individual may think of yourself as being extremely self-sacrificing, never allow yourself to be critical of other’s seeming disregard. Remember, all of your sacrificial activity carries with it a trail of selfishness—you get sense of self-satisfaction. Be careful not to let yourself be perceived as a do-gooder or, worse yet, holier than thou.

In the universe of religion, I have observed two basic forms of sacrifice. The Catholics and their ‘near mimickers’, through their priests, offer sacrifice directly to God just as the Jewish High Priest did. That sacrifice, of course is intended to appease God and cause him to think more kindly of us—we become more holy and hopefully more likely to attain heaven. The non-sacrificial Christians seem to think of their sacrificial good works as storing up Brownie points so they will get a higher place in heaven. Does selfishness get any worse than to take it right to heaven?

Of course, all of that thinking is reasonable because of the way we all have been indoctrinated. We all have been taught to think of heaven as a place—in reality, a new Paradise where we will all be happy running around laughing and talking—greeting aunt Susie and uncle Joe—might even run into grandpa. There’s one thing for certain though—those who just barely make it through the gate will be so far away from God as to get only an occasional glimpse of him—maybe once a month.

Now we all know its been almost two thousand years since Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice. He was suppose to come right back and set up this utopian paradise immediately after ascending into heaven—he had to get cleaned up first. At least that’s what the know-it-all Paul told us—and he got his information directly from God—not sure exactly how. If we can believe anything in the Bible, that’s what he said. He scolded people for leading ordinary lives getting married, working, having kids etc. He told them they were wasting their time. He told them to ‘put on a holy face’ and get ready for Jesus—he was coming back, maybe tomorrow.

Its quite obvious that someone got their wires crossed terribly bad. Now here’s what I think happened. After Jesus’ death, there was mass confusion about who he was, what he represented, why he died and what was to happen next. At the very least, he was recognized as the Messiah. Since the Jews had always expected the Messiah to restore Paradise, they had to make it happen in their minds. They knew Jesus was dead—they saw it happen. So what then? What happened to the Savior? Were they wrong in their recognition?—he had to be the one.

In order to make their wishes come true, Jesus had to rise from the dead and ascend into heaven and then ‘come back’ to restore the Kingdom. The “talk on the street’ was so florid and self-convincing that it instantly became ‘fact’. Paul couldn’t understand why those Jews were willing to sacrifice themselves to his torment. So, he inquired why they were willing to accept such aggravation. Their explanation was so convincing that Paul had a hysterical fit—it scared the wits out of him. Hence his explanation of how he came by his information—he didn’t know whether he was ‘in the body or out of the body’. I believe he was simply terrified to think that he had been tormenting God himself—-couldn’t get no scarier than that—tormenting God?

My take is simply that ‘its all wrong’. My God is Perfect Rationality. He/she/it exists in eternity. Eternity is a state if being where there can be no change (time). God, being perfect, cannot possibly be pleased or hurt—allowing such would expose an imperfection. Jesus was the ‘only’ sacrifice of consequence. Jesus was genius—he saw the universal evil of selfishness—he recognized that the Spirit of God was in everything including him—he saw that in order for God to show his ‘perfect love’ to the world, he, Jesus must die in atonement for all the evil in the universe. He did so graciously but not without great fear and anguish—I can’t imagine such. God is heaven. We and everything in existence are in God and of God.

Just think on this please—if we could experience ‘pleasure’ at seeing aunt Susie, we couldn’t possibly be in heaven because pleasure means change and change means time—there is no time in eternity. Heaven is a state of ‘Perfect Happiness’ with no ‘human element’ of emotional change possible.

So back to ‘sacrifice” We sacrifice out of love—love of self, love of neighbor , and love of God—the absolute only command Jesus gave us. And Jesus Gave us God’s Prefect Love which means it is impossible for God to ‘dislike’ any one of us or anything.

UNDERSTANDING-HILARY L HUNT MD

UNDERSTANDING- Oh, what a beautiful word. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if everyone in the world could have the same understanding–there would be no disagreements, no hostilities—only loving acceptance of each other–there would be peace. We can, but will we?

Anyone who follows my writings and comprehends them knows that common understanding is my goal. Some of you may feel threatened by my philosophy. Others may be angered, and still others may be bewildered. There are many, however, who seem to understand and are grateful for my contribution to their understanding.

Many of you are aware that I have presented my foolproof pathway to understanding in my books, Wilderness Cry, Peace in Spirituality, and Provocative Catholic. Those books, which are echoed in my frequent blog posts, lay out an irrefutable understanding of God, his universe, and our relationship with both.

By defining the essence of God as a perfect rational being, I am able to show that the ‘miniscule’ image of God as portrayed in the Old Testament and perpetuated by all three Abrahamic religions has been, and still is, the single-most major deterrent to peace the world has ever known. Each group, in turn, has envisioned a certain ill-defined image of that being and, simultaneously, proclaimed it, with absolute certainty, to be the only correct one. That, of course, has established immediate hostilities — one group stepping on other groups’ turf.

In similar fashion, each group has developed a system of appeasement of that vengeful God—those systems are known as religion. As of 2014 there were 33,000 such so-called Christian religions in the world — as of 2024 there are 45,000 such groups. I say so-called because each claims Jesus as its head, but each, simultaneously, professes a different Jesus. Their claims, of course, are based on the Bible, a book which has been frequently altered to suit each group’s imagination.

Now, having that awareness has compelled me to seek a solution to the problem. Since we recognize religion, without question, to be the cause of hostilities, what is the solution? Plainly and simply, we must come to a ‘common understanding’. And how may we do that? The very first step is to have a distinctive, irrefutable definition of the essence of our God, so that everyone starts on the ‘same page’.

I have given that essential definition (God is a Perfect Rational Being), and from it flows the automatic answers to all our dilemmas, mysteries, and quandaries. Because that definition refutes literally every tenet of every religion, I may be perceived as hostile to religion. I am not hostile—I am realistic and I am asking you to be realistic also.

I’m no dummy—as Willy Nelson would say, ‘I wasn’t born no yesterday’. I am fully aware that almost all of us were inculcated with the tenets of a specific religion, and likely, that inculcation was explicit and exclusive of all others—I know mine was. So, if you, as an individual, are willing to drop your shoulders, calm your bristles, and join your neighbors in a loving common understanding, then we can eventually have peace. It won’t come from the ‘top down’—no movement seldom ever does. It must start with you and you and you and you………. — from the ‘bottom up’.

When enough ‘yous’ join together, the ‘top brass’ will take note—oh, they will try desperately hard to hold on—eventually they will relinquish and accommodate— what a glorious day!!!

Understand, I am not in any way demeaning you or your religion. I am simply pointing out the misguided way of all religion and am pleading for your gracious acceptance and understanding of a better way. That better way consists simply in our universal gathering to offer God our only justifiable prayer — thanksgiving for our existence, our sustenance, and our salvation through his perfect love. God expects nothing of us — his love is all inclusive. However, I believe it would do us good to gather with humility, gratefulness, and thanksgiving in communities of common understanding of our all-loving God.

I encourage you to “put my philosophy to the test’—study it hard and offer me a scientific and philosophically solid rebuttal. If you can, I’ll graciously listen—if you can’t, join me in a communion of understanding. Very simply put, that means ‘we and everything in existence are of one common substance (energy)’ imbedded in that Perfect Rational Being we call God. All is of One Spirit. That is why I make persistent calls for the recognition and acceptance of the World-wide Communion of Spirituality. Pray that we may have that ‘Common Understanding’. The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, resides in all entities including us — otherwise, we and they could not be.

CHANGE-Hilary L Hunt MD

CHANGE- now here’s an interesting word for you that you might not have thought of in a philosophical or scientific way. In common usage, it means to make or become different. Change, of course, involves an element of time, even if it is only a nanosecond. In fact, time is a ‘measure of change’. In the natural physical world, we observe millions, even billions of changes, and we calibrate those events in units of time. However, in the supernatural world, we recognize that change is impossible—that is because the supernatural world exist in ‘eternity’, a state of being where no change is possible. If change were possible, it could not be eternity because it would have a beginning progressing to an end—a complete violation of our concept of eternity.

You may ask, what’s this all about, and I shall explain. This simple little concept completely negates all of our concepts about God and the universe as portrayed in the Bible and by the three Abrahamic religions in general. However, our knowledge of ‘particle physics’ (Quantum Mechanics) sheds a completely different light on concepts of a Supreme Being (call it what you may– God, Allah, Yahweh, etc ). Please allow me to explain.

Every physical object in the universe including all that is unseen (gases) is composed of identical particles of energy which are collectively known as quanta (plural for quantum). A quantum is the smallest particle of energy in existence with the following characteristics—it cannot be farther subdivided, it is perfect in both form and function, it cannot be marked in any way to distinguish it from its counterparts, it can be neither created, destroyed nor changed in any way by man, and not one ,more or less, is in existence now than was not in existence 13.8 billion years ago at the time of their release by the Big Bang. There are different varieties with specific names such as photon, electron, quark, boson, etc. . Obviously, since they are unchanging and perfect, we must acknowledge that they exist in eternity. Collectively, they represent a perfect rationality. That perfect rationality represents a perfect truth system outside of which there is no truth in this universe. Consequently, any rational person is forced to accept that , if there is a God, they are God.

One of their main functions is to make up the protons, neutrons, and electrons which constitute every atom of matter in existence. Isn’t it startling, then, to realize that everything physical in this universe which is constantly changing is made up of energy which exists in eternity and is unchanging? Simply stated then, God is in everything and everything is in God.

I think so, and the implications to that understanding are stupendous. We are obliged to recognize that our God is Perfect Energy manifested through Prefect Rationality. We are forced to accept the concept that God is, in fact , in everything, verifying Jesus’ proclamation—‘split a piece of wood and I am there; lift a rock and you will find me there’. We are forced to accept the validity of my definition of God’s essence as being perfect rationality. We are forced to recognize that truth in Paul’s assertion that ‘we are temples of the Holy Spirit’. We are not only free but rather mandated to recognize that physical miracles are impossible—God, the substrate of nature, is perfect and unchangeable. We are forced to recognize that the minuscule caricature of God as described in the Bible is demeaning. We are forced to recognize that God’s Perfect Love precludes any possible concept of either Hell or a ‘Heaven where some get higher places’—God cannot possibly love any part of his creation more than another.

A Perfect Loving God cannot possibly be vindictive,. Neither can he be changing his mind about anything —you see, that word change takes God right out of ‘eternity’ and into our world of mythology—another impossibility. So with that understanding, we are not justified in begging God to do something he cannot possibly do.

It is a great source of consternation to me to hear people constantly proclaiming that God performed a miracle for the most minuscule of their wishes. Did it ever occur to anyone that thousands of people die and are maimed worldwide daily, and all the while they are ‘begging’ God for a miracle. Is it possible that their loving creator could have total disregard for their pleas, many of which come from the most devout people on earth, while at the same time paying total heedance to someone’s relatively minuscule request? I don’t think so, but I recognize the source—total misguidance and possibly deliberate deception by religious instructors. (Please never forget that snakes can talk, at least once upon a time they did).

Lets get it straight—God is in all things. Whatever happens is ultimately Gods Will working through the natural process of his eternal creation—nature taking its course. Certainly, doctors, nurses, appropriate medications and therapies may and often do assist in the healing process, but ultimately, it all is God’s eternal perfect nature at work. You may think of it as a ‘miracle’ and I suppose to many it may seem that way, but I would suggest to you that rather than ‘begging’ God to do something which he can’t do, your only justifiable address to your God is a great big thank you God for my life, for my sustenance, and my salvation by your perfect love through Jesus. I believe that anything else is biased selfishness beyond the cause.

So, a seemingly simple little word like change may have major, major implications—think on that please.

SIN-Just what is sin and where did the idea of sin come from? Well, in the first instance, the Book Of Genesis tells us that Eve disobeyed God’s command and ate of the ‘forbidden fruit’ and enticed her husband, Adam to eat also. Consequently, every human and animal alike have been branded with the curse of that Original Sin. In the second instance, during the Israelites exodus from Egypt, they became unruly and pagan-like. Their leader, Moses, decided on a plan of action to get them under control—he concocted the Ten Commandments. When presented with them, the Israelites scorned Moses and went their ‘merry way’. Moses then presented them with a new set and proclaimed them to be God’s rules—any breech was known as sin against God which incurred his wrath from that day forward.

Now lets address the Garden of Eden story. It would seem from the story that before Adam’s and Eves’ sin all animals were peaceful and loved each other—they lived in perfect harmony. They all could surely talk because snakes could. What I want to know is who put the snake up to tempting Eve? If the snake dreamed up the idea herself, then she would have been the first sinner—I say ‘she’ because females have always been branded as being the source of all evil. Also, presumably, since all animals could talk, why didn’t many others attempt to talk the snake out of deceiving Eve? Secondly, likewise, at the moment Eve bit-in, all the animals would have turned ferocious. How could Adam and Eve have possibly escaped the ravages of all the Lions, tigers, grizzly bears, T Rexes, crocodiles, etc.—they were busy making loin-cloths from fig leaves—no way they could have survived. That entire story sounds very, very ‘fishy’ to me—it in no way reflects the God and the universe I know. I believe, without any doubt, that it represents the imagination of some person(s) attempt to explain a human condition from a platform of total ignorance. Never-the-less, that story persists today. Everyone is free to take it or leave it—I prefer the latter.

Now lets talk about Moses and the Ten Commandments. He is to be commended for constructing such a good set of rules for civility in society. The only two of those rules which seemed to matter as time went on were the 6th and 9th. Of course, they were of paramount importance because a woman (wife) was a man’s property—any unfaithfulness on her part was punishable by stoning to death—pretty serious stuff.

All of this ideology about sin was developed under the pretext of ‘displeasing’ God—that’s what sin was/is. If God were displeased which he was perpetually, then some form of recompense had to be developed to appease God. So, the idea of sacrifice was developed, deployed and maintained even to this moment—God must be appeased at all cost. And ‘cost’ it did. The High Priest got filthy rich and the peasants got poorer.

Then Jesus came along and guess what—he saw two major problems with the entire set-up. Number one, he saw the minuscule, restrictive idea that the Jews had about the nature of their God. He understood the self-serving nature of their philosophy. Number two, he recognized the fallacy of their understanding of their relationship with their God. In other words they had no realistic idea who God was: neither did they have any realistic idea about love—one of the most basic attributes of Gods nature—his perfect love.

With that understanding, he set about attempting to instruct them. His intent was not to appease God who is Perfect but to liberate his brethren from the irrational, oppressive, sacrificial, thieving religion of the Jews under which they served. He tried desperately to get them to see that God is in everything and that everything is in God. Likely we shall never know whether or not he was successful. The surviving written word we have has been so distorted. Just look at all the dozens of times it has been rewritten, reinterpreted, and re-invented. So where do we go. I know where I went—I pursued a determined path to the truth.

As I investigated and studied, it became readily apparent that the essence of no deity had ever defined explicitly. It also became readily apparent that without that essential definition , any talk about a deity was just random jargon and totally meaningless. Accordingly, my determination allowed me the freedom of thought and understanding to make that definition—God Is A Perfect Rational Being. That perfection means it cannot possibly be pleased or displeased. God knows all and is all — God is Perfect Love.

Jesus, seeing the universal evil of selfishness which God instilled into every entity in existence, the only sin, and knowing that he and everything in existence were mirror images of God, knew that he must die so that God could be recognized as who he is, Perfect Love. He was the only human to ever see that—what a terrifying thought—he was the messiah—he was the sacrificial lamb who willingly paid the price so we all could have that clear understanding —what glorious beauty. As it evolved over time, it is obvious that Jesus was a total failure. His name has been used in total contrast to his desires and efforts, only to suit the whims of those who would continue dare control us with threats of God’s wrath for their own personal gain — the High Priest and King still live among us.. Our only just and worthy response is a great big thank you ,Jesus and thank you Perfect God for giving us the most heroic person to ever live who willingly and graciously died in our behalf.

VENGEANCE-Hilary L Hunt M.D.

VENGEANCE-Now here is a word (concept) that is near and dear to my heart in a negative way. My basic concept and belief is that vengeance has absolutely no place in our lives. So why am I so different from the rest of the world? Literally all so-called civilized nations as well as the three Abrahamic religions have vengeance as their common seat of operation. All legal systems are based on a revengeful punishment system for misbehavior. How many times have we witnessed a wronged family express glee when a sentence of major proportion is handed down, or express disappointment and disdain if a sentence lighter than expected is rendered? Why do you suppose that is? I think without doubt it stems from the Jewish religion and perpetuated by Christianity and Islam.

The Old Testament is rife with revenge not only being tolerated by God, but rather being both extoled and delivered by him. In Deuteronomy, God tells the Israelites if a hostile city accepts peace terms, enslave them all. If they won’t accept peace terms, kill all the men and take their fair women as additional wives. God commanded them to kill every person in the pagan cities of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.—“you must doom them all”. Do not some sects of Islam believe it is their ‘God-given” command to exterminate every infidel? Do not all Christian religions teach a vengeful God that will condemn you to eternal hell for breech of his commands?

Jesus taught us that our only duty was to love our God with our all and to love our neighbor as ourselves—whatever happened to that teaching? I was raised in the Catholic Church and have attended mass regularly for eighty two years—I have never heard one single solitary sermon preached on that theme of love—not one. I have often wondered why—I think I know. If any religion admitted to and adhered to that teaching of Jesus, there would be absolutely no reason for their existence. They must continue teaching the philosophy of a vengeful God in order to justify their existence—after all, they hold the keys to the Kingdom right in their hands. Not only that, but sometimes they smirkingly dangle them before your face. Almost everyone knows they have power which we do no have—we are just peons, not much better than the Hittites etc.

As I listen to homilies Sunday after Sunday, I hear of God’s mercy, never God’s love. Since we are all dreadful sinners, God has two choices—either show mercy and forgive us or send us to hell. Of course that mercy is ‘dished out’ by the Church—in exchange for our money and time. Never mind that we are sinners because God made us to be that way. Never mind that Jesus died to guarantee everyone’s salvation. Never mind that Jesus told us our only obligation was to love God and neighbor—after all, what Jesus said and did (died for us) really doesn’t count—it was just a ‘down-payment’. We must pay the balance to the Church.

When Constantine gave (commanded ) the so-called bishops to form a religion of their liking, that was the end to Jesus’ real teaching. Jesus said “Moses gave you the ten commandments (to keep you in line), but I give you two—both love” (paraphrased). Have you noticed that there is never any power, money and control associated with love?—I have. There is plenty of power, money and control associated with vengeance—the God of the Old Testament is ‘alive and well’—Jesus’s God died in the year 325AD.

In my humble opinion, the human race is destined and doomed to a continued life of guilt and misery with absolutely no chance for peace until and if ever our attitude turns to the Jesus God and away from the God of the Old Testament. The Old Testament God Was vengeful and hurtful—he played favorites. Of course that was all in the minds of those who ‘dreamed him up’. The Jesus God is all love—wouldn’t hurt a flea—Jesus accepted all the hurt—Jesus showed us God’s Perfect Love. That vision didn’t satisfy the greedy hierarchy at all—no power, money , control.

LOVE or LIKE-Hilary L Hunt MD

LOVE or LIKE- do you know the difference ? —I doubt many do. At Catholic masses yesterday, around the word, the Gospel reading was from Matthew’s Gospel. Jesus, seemingly, makes some crazy, unrealistic, statements—that is to those who don’t understand. Even my priest admitted that he had pondered and struggled with that reading all week. I truly wanted to stand up and explain to him that if he would/could define ‘love’, he would have no quandary—of course, I wouldn’t/ shouldn’t/didn’t do that. As a consequence, I suspect few if any gleaned a meaningful understanding from the reading or the homily.

In that reading, Jesus tells his listeners that they must ‘love’ their enemies—turn the other cheek if someone strikes you on the cheek—do good to those who hate you. What does all that mean? Are we supposed to lay down and let our enemies (those who hate us) roll over us like a steam roller—are we not allowed to defend ourselves, and if we do are we breaking God’s law? I think, without doubt, none of the above.

In order to understand what Jesus was/is saying, we must first understand what love is. That word love is co commonly misused as to almost have no recognizable meaning. It does, however, have eternal meaning which is derived from the epitome of love—God’s Perfect Love as manifested in this instance through the willing sacrificial death of Jesus. Simply stated love is acceptance. Jesus is calling us to accept our neighbor as a child of God who is loved by God just as we are. God/Jesus knows that each of us is a very imperfect being whose innate drives and understandings are based or our individual and collective life’s experiences. As a consequence, we develop attitudes obtuse to our neighbor even to the point of feeling it our right to be the aggressor and take someone’s life—even entire nations against other nations in war.

So how does that fit with Matthew’s Gospel reading? Very simply, Jesus is telling us we can never wish eternal evil on anyone or anything, because all are from the same creator. That does not mean that we have to like anyone or anything. The word like means to experience ‘sensual pleasure from’—see, feel, taste, smell, hear. It is entirely likely that at any given moment there are millions of people who don’t like each other—we get no sensual pleasure from them. However, we must never wish eternal evil on them. The Muslim terrorists who want to kill us are not liked at all by us, but they are children of God and must be accepted as such—that is Jesus message. Jesus never said we couldn’t kill an assailant if necessary to protect our selves and families, but in doing so, we must do with respect and acceptance.

That very concept of ‘love’ is what is so desperately missing in the universal philosophies of religion. If we could ever come to realize that God loves each of us equally, peace could be possible. But, as long as religion continues to spew the concept of a vengeful God, who is capable of showing more favor to some than others, there is absolutely no possibility of voluntary peace. We are taught that the more we go to church, or the more money we give to the church etc., the better God likes us, because we give him more sensual pleasure—therefore we get a ‘higher place’ in heaven. If that is not not tantamount to selling indulgences, I’ll eat my hat. I’ll bet my bottom dollar that a person who never darkens a church door, or a person who even denies the existence of God is loved by God equal to all others.

This vengeful, favor-seeking concept of God dreamed up by the Jews and perpetuated by Christianity has fostered a hostel attitude among people from day one.

Therefore, once again, I am pleading for the recognition and acceptance of the World-wide Communion of Spirituality—the understanding that all things are of God and in God. SPIRITUALITY-Hilary L Hunt MD

SPIRITUALITY- Just what is spirituality? Likely, if you were to ask that question of a thousand people, you’d get a thousand different answers—all would be vague. Two years ago, on this very site, I called for the understanding and acceptance of The World-wide Communion of Spirituality—my call continues. About six months ago, Covenant Books released the second of by books titled Peace in Spirituality. This book represents just one of a myriad of natural extensions of my philosophy of the essence of God’s nature as outlined in my first book, Wilderness Cry.

As noted above, most responses about spirituality would be vague, the reason being that before one can understand ‘spirituality’, one must understand the Trinity. Of course, all Christians have been taught (told) that the Trinity is a ‘mystery’ and not understandable to us mere mortals. One might ask the logical question then, if we can’t understand it and it’s a mystery, what good does it do to talk about it?—we literally don’t know what we’re talking about.

I pondered that question for sixty years—I poured over volume after volume of history, philosophy and natural science. Then, as luck would have it, for some reason I took an extensive overview course in Quantum Mechanics (particle physics)—twenty four lectures of thirty five to forty five minutes each. To my amazement, I discovered that everything in the universe is composed of identically the same things—of course, I already knew that everything was composed of atoms, but I didn’t know what atoms themselves were made of. Neither did I know that the individual particles of light called photons could behave in both wave pattern and particulate pattern. I discovered that the tinniest particles of energy with names such as photons, electrons, bosons etc. were each identical to its counterparts in both form and function—neither could any of them be reduced to a smaller dividend. In other words, each particle was perfect in both form and function and unchangeable. What a startling revelation—they all existed in eternity just as God.

So lets get this straight, everything in our gross physical world is composed of infinite, perfect, eternal energy particles, while at the same time their ultimate constructions are constantly changing (evolving). That understanding suggested to me that there was/is a Perfect Rationality which designed and keeps them perfect—eureka!! I finally was able to define God’s essence— God is a Perfect Rational Being. That Perfect Intellect reflecting upon itself sees a ‘mirror image’ of itself—in the supernatural, that image is a living being also (the second person of Trinity). Then two Perfect Intellects viewing each other have no choice except to accept, love, choose each other—that is the Will of God (the Holy Spirit). Therefore, the Will of God, the Holy Spirit is indelibly imprinted on each particle of energy of which all things are made. That recognition and acceptance my friends is spirituality.

Therein lies my basis for calling for the World-wide Communion of Spirituality. It gives real literal meaning to Saint Paul’s assertion that we are ‘temples of the Holy Spirit’—indeed we and everything in existence likewise.

This understanding allows for a real meaning of spirituality. Moreover, that understanding and acceptance are mandatory if peace is ever to be achieved. For full enrichment and comprehension, please read my two little books.

TIME-Hilary L Hunt MD

TIME: this word indicates a very simple but necessary concept in order for us to understand and deal with the change that takes place in our universe on a continuing and continual basis. In other words, time is a measurement of change. As intelligent beings, we not only recognized change but we perceived the need to calibrate the rate of change so as to be able to arrange suitable schedules of our activities. All sorts of designations of measurement have been developed since humans occupied this earth. Even the Egyptians fourteen thousand years ago calculated that it takes roughly 26,000 years for each of the twelve Zodiac characters to rotate off the horizon.

So for our everyday use, ordinary humans arrange their schedules according to seconds, minutes, days and years. Physicists, mathematicians and other natural or particle physicists may employ a different set of time parameters. Regardless of designation, each is an expression of degree of change. For instance, we may set our automobile on cruise control at 70 mph. That tells us that one hour from now we will have changed location by seventy miles. Unconsciously, we routinely use time considerations on a moment to moment basis as a guide to orderliness in our lives.

There are, however, many time considerations used by astrophysicists, cosmologists, particle physicists and others to determine a stars distance from earth. It has been calculated to take 100,000 years for light traveling at the speed of 186,000 m/sec to go from one side of out Milky Way galaxy to the other side. Most of those distance calculations are based on star’s color spectrum and brightness. In any event, scientists have used those methods to calculate that it has been roughly 13.7 billion years since the universe came into existence. One cannot fathom the distance that light traveling at 186,000 miles/ second would travel in 13.7 billion years.

Now put on your ‘thinking hat’ and try to imagine a God who caused it to happen. How would you describe such a being. The Bible describes him in various ways. The usual way is a grizzled old man in semi-bust form sitting in the clouds and lording over his earth creation—seemingly, he has no real concern about the rest of his creation. Mind you, compared with the remainder of creation, the earth is totally insignificant in both size and function—or so it seems.

With closer observation, we have discovered that the earth is, in fact, made of exactly the same identical material as all of the rest of creation. In fact, those tinniest of particles of energy are the only creation ever made in the scope of our ‘time’ measurements. In addition, we have observed that there are different types of these particles which have been given specific names such as photons, electrons, bosons, etc. We also have observed that each of those particles of a specific kind is identical to and indistinguishable from it counterparts. Also, close observation has shown that each is absolutely perfect in both form and function.

Having made those observations causes many of us to ask a very fundamental question—where did all that come from? Did it just happen or, possibly, did some unseen Higher Power account for it all? The ‘miniscule’ picture of such a ‘possible creator’ as painted in the Bible becomes almost a laughing matter when one considers the magnitude of the task. Simple observation of the gross universe shows it to be constantly changing. However, its ‘building blocks’ are each prefect and unchanging. So where does that leave us?

If we understand Eternity to be a state of being without change (no time), and we simultaneously recognize the perfection and unchangeability of the universe’s building blocks, then we may begin to get an inkling into the understanding of their creator. Their creator exists in eternity—so do the building blocks of our changing universe. So a logical conclusion would be that the building blocks mimic the image of their creator-–they are their own creator. How can that be? What kind of creator is this anyway? How may we define it? That identical question has been pondered by theologians and great philosophers and thinkers from the beginning of recorded history.

Because none of them had benefit of knowledge about the particle world of perfection, they were never able to define the essence of their creator—each, in turn, failed completely. As luck and determination would have it, with the development of Quantum Mechanics, this particle perfection gradually came to light. I was fortunate to explore its ramifications—mind you, I’m no particle physicist, but I understand the principles. that understanding ‘turned on my lights’. God is Perfect Rationality. That definition explained all—it removed all mystery. It explained precisely the Trinity. It explained precisely Jesus and his need to die. It explained precisely God’s Perfect Love. In short, it explained everything—it left not a single lingering doubt.

We started todays discussion talking about time. Now were talking about a mixture of time (measure of change) and eternity (no change). God exists in everything in an unchanging eternity, whilst at the same time he is evolving an entire gross universe of selfish change—why? The obvious reason is so he could die in the image of Jesus and thereby exonerate all with his Perfect Love.
