Philosophy is a set of accepted principles derived from a set of known or presumed facts. In the case of our existence and the existence of the entire universe, the prevailing philosophical understanding is based on what at that time were presumed facts, but which are now known to be completely false. At the time the philosophy by which we are shackled was developed, there was absolutely no scientific understanding of anything. All premises were based on mythology, astrology, imagination, and superstition– the earth was flat; the stars controlled all existences; the earth was supported on five unstable crocked legs, always in danger of plunging into the netherworld below; all babies were in the male semen; etc. ad nauseum. Here we are two to four thousand years later still shackled with such idio albeit not quite as bad.
We do know, in fact, a great amounts of scientific information — factual knowledge not known then— we know the earth is round (spherical); the sun is the center of our little universe (solar system); the universe is filled with trillions of galaxies containing billions and trillions of stars (suns); light traveling at the rate of 186,000 miles/sec is just now reaching our earth after traveling 13.7 billion years — it would take light traveling at the same speed of 186,000 m/sec 100 thousand years to traverse the face of our galaxy, the Milky Way, alone —imagine, if you can, the size of a universe a trillion times that large; the female carries the egg of life in her ovaries and it must be fertilized by the male sperm to produce life. More importantly, we know that each and every entity in the universe is made of identical and perfect tiny particles of energy with varying names cumulatively known as quanta. It is that singular knowledge which has given rise to my philosophical assessment of our universe and its existence. That assessment, of course, presumes and essentially defines a Supreme Being (God) who imagined, willed, and keeps each particle perfect.
Since the beginning of recorded history, mankind has recognized a higher power. Without any scientific understanding their imaginations ran wild. Consequently, their god(s) were imbued with every magical and superstitious power imaginable except the singular important one, science which is known truth. Throughout history, great thinkers and theologians have struggled to no avail, helplessly and hopelessly, to define the “essence” of their God. The reason for their failure is simple. God cannot be defined in superstitious and/or magical terms. Since God is “ALL” knowledge, It must be defined in absolute scientific and philosophical terms. Since, no one knew science at that time, definition was impossible, try as hard as they may. Recognition of that dilemma, associated with the readily visible folly of religion, I was prompted to do something never before done in history, and that is “define the essence of our Supreme Being. Note I use the term Supreme Being, because it encompasses all deities of all religions and cults. I defined the essence of God thus: “God is a Perfect Rational Being“. Those six, simple, little words are all inclusive and irrefutable. My contention is that the Spirit of God permeates “brands” every single quantum of energy in existence. Consequently, each remains perfect in all respects (form and function). Therefore, there is not, has not been, and cannot possibly be, any event in this universe that is not a “perfect result of what it was intended to be”. God is Perfect, so change is impossible. In order for any so-called miracle to occur, God’s nature would have to change — an impossibility.
Now. I must digress a moment to remind you that no one can prove the existence of a Supreme Being (God). Likewise, no one can disprove it either. So then, belief in God is the only legitimate faith we can have. I feel justified in my belief in God because of the absolute perfection that exists in our universe. It could have just ‘happened’, as many scientists have proclaimed. We have no way of knowing for certain. However, because of the perfect rationality that exists in our universe, if there is a God, it must be defined as a Perfect Rational Being.
Scientists have shown rather convincingly that it all began with a Big Bang nearly fourteen billion years ago when all of the tiny particles of energy, collectively known as quanta, which form the substrate of every atom in existence were released simultaneously — we recognize that those particles were released from a singularity (God) no larger than a pinhead — can you imagine —all the energy and matter in this massive universe being compressed by its own gravity into such a tiny speck? They immediately began forming the protons and neutrons which combined with electrons to make up all atoms, and in perfect fashion. At that instant change began. We humans, who seem to have appeared near fourteen billion years later, measure that change in units we call time. WE do that for a multiplicity of reasons, but the most recognizable is for ordering and structuring our daily living activities. Scientists use time and other measurement methods, of which most of us are unaware, to ‘look back into time’ at its beginning.
The big question is why would or could all that just happen on its own. An even bigger question is, if there is a God, what is/are his intentions in doing so — is this just a ‘play-thing toy for him/it? Most who have imagined God as an individual separate from his creation have suggested all sorts of reasons, and most of those reasons have prompted the development of ‘religion’— to please/appease an angry him/it/them. Those religion developments have created havoc on our tiny sphere of turf — we are in imminent danger of imploding at any second.
On the other hand, I, like Jesus, Saint Francis of Assisi, and many others have recognized God’s presence in everything in existence, which not only includes our bodies but also ever gravid existence in this universe. That recognition mandates a graphic definition of Trinity God.
Here is that graphic picture for you: God, the Father with his perfect Intellect reflects upon himself and sees a mirror image. Being in eternity means that reflection is a Perfect living Being also, the Son or second person. The Father and Son, two perfect intellects, viewing each other have no choice except to accept, love, and choose each other. That accepting, loving, choosing each other is the Will of God, the Holy Spirit of God or the third person of the Trinity. Because, just as its source (the Father), the Perfect Intellect Reflection (Son) perceived each of those particles and his perfect Will chose each of them, by necessity, each is branded with the Holy Spirit which keeps them perfect — they account for the Perfect Rationality which pervades our universe. Not only that but they also account for my justification in defining God’s essence as ‘A Perfect Rational Being, and simultaneously, demand my graphic description of the Trinity.
So, why do we exist? What are God’s ultimate intentions? My intelligence is way too limited to know his intentions, but he did give me the intelligence to see and recognize his perfection in action — I am delighted to be able to have the courage to share it with you.
Having said all that brings me to the point of my treatise. All religion is based on some writings. Those writings are based on the superstitious, ignorant, and biased attitudes of the writers. Therefore, we all have been brainwashed with an ignorant, biased, superstitious, magical set of writings which bear no resemblance to the truth.
Look around you and look at history. Mankind is/has been in perpetual turmoil because of terribly misguided idea(s), religion. Religion is cultist and divisive and has/does cause most of the turmoil in the world. Spirituality, on the other hand is loving and uniting. Spirituality is the recognition and acceptance that the spirit of God, the Holy Spirit pervades every entity in existence in this universe. Consequently, several years ago, I called for The Worldwide Communion of Spirituality which means each of us recognize and accept our commonality with every existence through communion with the Holy Spirit (Will of God).
If you have further interest, you will find a complete exploration of these ideas in my three philosophy books which are based on both science and sound philosophical principals. They are titled Wilderness Cry, Peace in Spirituality, and Provocative Catholic. If you would like to know more about me, Growing Up In Fancy Farm Kentucky will hold your interest. All are available from Amazon-Kindle, both hard copy and digital or from me, autographed, at handg@comcast.net.
