Magisterium

The term Magisterium refers to the absolute teaching authority of the Roman Catholic Church. Historical review shows those teachings, as well as their authoritative presentations and use, have been in a constant state of flux through the time of the second Vatican Council. Since that time, it appears to the casual observer such as I that the idea of Magisterium, while not having been abandoned, has been skillfully ignored so as to pretend ‘it never happened’. Just remember, the Church’s stance is that Magisterium is an ‘absolute teaching authority which stems directly from God’. So, since God is perfect and unchanging, that means the magisterial teachings of the Church must be perfect and unchanging. After all, it would not ‘be fair’ to incriminate one generation and send them straight to hell for violations of their teachings, and not do the same for following generations — or would it?

For instance: where was Magisterium when the earth was flat, and the earth was the center of our universe? History shows the Church taught emphatically that the earth is flat, and is the center of the universe, even to a point during the Inquisitions of torturing and burning to death all dissenters. Likewise, couples, even accused of enjoying sex, were given the same treatment. Similar punishment was administered to all accused of having sex on any elevated surface because the shaking they created might cause the earth to topple off its five crocked, wobbly legs and fall into the netherworld below. Male masturbation was the worst crime demanding execution by fire because all the babies were in the male ejaculate and were being spilled to their death. Witches were everywhere, sometimes even masquerading as infants and children — burning to death was the only ‘sure-fire’ method of exterminating them. The Protestants ‘got into that fun’ in the early days of our country by hanging witches.

So, what about the Magisterial rules of fasting and abstaining from meat— don’t hear much about them anymore. I can remember when knowingly eating meat on Friday was a mortal sin —a direct ticket to hell if one died before confessing it. Any use of sexual functions other than heterosexual union by married couples was an absolute mortal sin. Likewise, deliberately missing Mass on any Sunday or Holy day of Obligation carried the same penalty. Any birth control method other than the ‘rhythm method’ was a certain ticket to hell, while abortion was the most abhorrent of all methods. Marriages to a non-Catholic, while not forbidden, were strongly discouraged, and could not be done inside a Catholic Church building — they were done in the priest’s rectory out of sight of the congregation. Failure to confess one’s sins to a priest at least once a year or to receive Holy Communion during “Easter Time’ was basically automatic self-excommunication. Any servile work on Sundays or Holy Days was strictly forbidden — the only exception was ‘the ox being in a ditch’.

The above examples will serve to illustrate the obvious ‘about face’ of the Church hierarchy concerning Magisterium. Since they have declared themselves to be the ultimate voice of God, it must be obvious that God has ‘changed his mind’ about almost everything. Of course, they get away with such chicanery because all Catholics have been taught that God does change his mind a billion times a day. Remember, there are over a billion Catholics in the world, and all are asking God to change his mind and do ‘something special, ’just for them, almost every day.

I would suggest that the seeming about face of the church stems from two sources. Number one is that they can no longer justify ignoring obvious facts of science. Number two is the Church’s rules about sex, marriage, birth control, divorce, and anything to do with sex are falling on deaf ears among the younger generations. Consequently, the younger generation are finding religion irrelevant in their lives as their precipitous drop in attendance at Catholic services attests. That drop in attendance translates into a precipitous drop in income for the Church — that is the source of the Church’s real concern.

Pope Francis has repeatedly iterated dictums totally contrary to previous Church stances. As a general cover for his so-called liberal stance, he remarks that ‘None of the rules have changed. We just got to stop talking about them’. In other words, just pretend they have changed. In due time, the old folks like me who remember will be gone, and the younger folks will think the rules have always been lax and to their liking — maybe Church membership and attendance will pick up. In addition, the obvious collusive open border policy is also aimed at shoring up and reinforcing the Church’s numbers. It’s all about money. If the sex weapon no longer works to control them, just let them do as their commonsense dictates and just pretend that stance has always been Church policy. Power and control with resultant money extraction must be maintained by whatever means necessary — to hell with morality.

The bottom line is this; for almost two centuries God used restrictions on sex, his own self-instilled instinctual drive, to control us by threatening us with eternal torture in the unquenchable fire of hell. Now, suddenly, God did an about face and lifted the restrictions on normal sex and replaced them with a policy of ‘anything goes’ attitude toward sex — control by liberal presentation of sex to it members and potential members. Of course, God’s ‘change of mind’ comes through the presentation of Magisterium by those who presume to be his surrogates.

Don’t you have sympathy for those poor Christians who lived between 325 AD and 2013 AD ? — I do. The social and psychological impact of those restrictive orders about sex prompted G. Rattray Taylor, in his very complete and astute book, Sex in History, to observe that Medieval Europe resembled “a giant cesspool of psychosis”. The schizoid effect on personalities by the restriction of perfectly normal sexual activity and common sense was monumental. Neither did it stop with Medieval Europe — it persisted until very recently. Almost all ‘normal’ practicing Catholics born before the year 2000 are affected to some degree or another — the guilt and fear instilled by such restrictions cannot be avoided in normal individuals.

The conservative (old school) branch of Catholicism continually rails against Pope Francis for his liberal stance in Magisterium — he seems not to care.

Everyone knows that the God of the Israelites is the same God of Christians — he can change his mind anytime he wishes. In fact, God changes his mind millions of times daily performing miracles for those who beg him, or so they think—I am sympathetic to the pathetic, unassuming people who have been taught to believe so, and I am equally sympathetic to the poor unassuming individuals whom God refuses to honor with miracles — consider the millions who annually die of cancer and other incurable diseases because God refuses to work a miracle for them. Does anyone seriously believe that God favors one person over another? Yes, sadly they do — they have been brainwashed to think so.

In my book, Wilderness Cry, I have defined irrefutably God’s essence; God is a Perfect Rational Being. That definition ‘blows all religion out of the water’ — all are invalid. God is Perfect and cannot possibly change anything about himself or anything. The philosophical proof lies in the fact that ‘change’ involves an element of ‘time’ — there is no time in Eternity. God’s Perfect Intellect envisioned all and released all at the moment of the Big Bang, and his Perfect Will, the Holy Spirit, ensures that all remains Perfect.

I believe without doubt that Pope Francis is correct in his ‘magisterial’ approach regarding sex. I have no way of knowing his motive, but observing the massive influx of migrants, most of whom are Catholic, across our southern border, and being aware of the massive reduction of churchgoing Catholics in this country, leads me to suspicion that his motive is at least partially ‘commercial’. He wants to ‘shore up’ the numbers of Catholics and, knowing that Spanish-origin people are both mostly Catholic and passionate, they will likely fulfill his desire — the Vatican coffers must be enriched at all costs.

In my books, Peace in Spirituality and Provocative Catholic, I explore the many ramifications of my definition of God’s essence. The most striking is the deleterious effect of religion on world society —a most divisive entity which has perpetuated world strife. I show that ‘understanding and accepting’ Spirituality is the absolute only means for attaining and maintaining Peace. Accordingly, several years ago, I issued a call for The Worldwide Communion of Spirituality which means that each person must understand and accept that each of us has a commonality with every entity in existence. That commonality comes from the fact that everything in existence is made of exactly the same perfect particles of energy which I have defined as God’s reflection, and which were released nearly fourteen billion years ago. Therefore, everything in existence is God’s reflection — we are brothers and sisters with All— should we not humble ourselves to that recognition and accept ‘all’ in peace. That is the ultimate Magisterium. Will the world of religion accept it — I have my doubts — too much loss of Power, Control and Money.

I thoroughly understand that my voice is ‘one crying out for truth from the wildernesses of ignorance and deceit’, and likely, will not be heeded. However, I shall not be deterred. I will continue to preach God’s Perfect Love and the evils of religion until my dying breath. Furthermore, my knowledge of Church history coupled with my definition of God’s essence makes it mandatory to view the Church’s stance on Magisterium is, at best, terribly misguided, or at worst, a complete hoax.

HOLY MEN (revised) — HILARY L HUNT MD

Doesn’t that term send shock waves of imagination through your entire being—both exhilaration and guilt? Exhilaration, because we marvel at the thought of someone being so pious, benevolent, holy, and perfect. Guilt, because, instantaneously, either consciously, subconsciously, or both, we realize we do not fit that mold. Then, we must ask ourselves how we came by those ingrained ideas in the first place, and secondly, are they justified? I can’t answer with certainty for you, but I can for myself.

From day one of my earliest memories until this very day, I have been schooled in the idea that certain people are known to have followed ‘God’s Laws’ to perfection, and thereby, are known, and have been certified, to be saints in heaven. The question then arises; ‘who makes those observations and certifications?’. Early in my Roman Catholic schooling, training, and upbringing, I didn’t really question such ideas—I just marveled at them. The disappointment came rapidly as I soon realized I couldn’t be one of them—I was too bad—I felt guilty.

As I got older, and the level of understanding and interpretation expanded with specifics about certain saints, I learned there might be a glimmer of hope for me after all. One prime example, touted with great exuberance, was Augustine of Hippo. I learned from the Catholic sisters, who taught me, that Augustine had been a womanizer of the highest degree—a real no-no for becoming a ‘saint’. But he had ‘an ace in the hole’, his mother, saint Monica. Throughout all the seventeen years of his life of debauchery, he squandered everything he had. Not only that, but he also tried every religion he could find—none fit. In the meantime, Monica continued to pray for his conversion. Finally, after years of indulgence and a burned out, spent life, he converted to Roman Catholicism.

Augustine was an intelligent man. Soon after his conversion, he became a priest. Realizing there was an unsettled controversy in the Church about the specifics of Original Sin and the Trinity, he developed a philosophy which explained them to the Church’s satisfaction—he was made Bishop of Hippo. He was canonized a saint some nine hundred years later—Monica, his mother, also was canonized.

A contemporary of Augustine, Jerome, was also a Catholic priest in Italy. He spoke both Greek and Latin. He is tributed with having translated the Bible from Greek to Latin. However, Dr Bart Ehrman, professor of Bible at North Carolina University, and a celebrated author about biblical concerns and events, asserts that, in his translation of the Bible from Greek to Latin, Jerome either eliminated or drastically changed most texts portraying ‘anything good’ about women—sex had become the absolute greatest evil in the Church’s eye, and ‘women were sex’. G. Rattray Taylor, in his insightful book, Sex in History, relates that Jerome became a staunch ascetic. In fact, to scourge himself more meaningfully, he moved from Italy to the Middle East desert in Judea where he became a hermit. He took three women with him. However, he made them dress as men, rub their face with dirt and ashes to hide their beauty, and torment their bodies continually, as he did. One of the women had four children. The oldest child died, and Jerome scolded her severely for weeping, telling her she should be thankful because, now she would have more time to devote to God—such was the ideation of ascetics—modern-day Opus Dei. Jerome was canonized three hundred-fifty years after his death.

Those two examples will serve to set the stage for who are considered to be ‘holy men’. Now, let’s back up thirty to forty years before Augustine and Jerome came along. The year is 325 AD. Jesus had been dead about three hundred years. The Jewish Kingdom was still under Roman control—a government within a government. The Jews were basically like sharecroppers under Roman rule, just as they had been in Jesus’ time. Christianity, of sorts, had spread eastward to all of Europe and North Africa along the Mediterranean Sea. Each town had its own bishop who was supreme ruler in his jurisdiction, However, there were many differences in Christian belief and practices from one Jurisdiction to another. Consequently, among the Christian Church, there was much squabbling and infighting, sometimes with outright hostility. Instead of working and producing for the Roman State, the Christians were spending their time bickering and arguing with each other. In the meantime, Emperor Constantine, and Emperors before him, had depleted both the Roman army and resources by engaging in perpetual conquests. The official Roman Religion at that time was Mithraism, a pagan religion which had been brought to Rome in 60 A D by the Roman Army from Persia—it was readily accepted by the Romans. Taylor asserts it is very similar to Roman Catholicism—the Church denies it. Be that as it may, Constantine reasoned that it would be more practical to make Christianity the official religion rather than attempt coercing the squabbling Christians into meaningful production. Consequently, He called the eighteen hundred world bishops into council at Nicaea—only 180 attended. At any rate, he commissioned those ‘holy men’ to form a religion of their liking—it would be enforced to the death by the Roman army. After much squabbling they formed a consensus, and the Holy Roman Catholic Church was born. In my humble opinion, it bore no resemblance to Jesus’ teaching. It reverted right back to the Jewish sacrificial religion which Jesus despised, and which got him killed for saying so. However, it did put those ‘holy men’ into a position of total control just as the King and High Priest were in Judaism—it gave them unadulterated control of our souls and our pocketbooks. As far as I can observe, nothing has changed to this day.

Oh, other ‘holy men’ finally split off from the ‘parent company’ and ‘set up housekeeping’ on their own. The visible result is forty-five thousand different churches and sects, each proposing to represent the real Jesus—all headed by ‘holy men’—all are imposters.

AGGRIVATIONS, FRUSTRATIONS, DISAPPOINTMENTS, AND GOD’S PERFECTION — HILARY L HUNT MD

How many times in an average day do we experience frustrating aggravations and/or disappointments? I dare say most active people experience such unpleasant events many times each day. In my own personal life, while working in my gardens, I will notice at least dozens daily—something is always snagged, out of line, or won’t function the way I want.

So, with that little intro, how should we react to such situations and, more importantly, why. Before we can logically address those questions, we must consider their source—and what is their source? — God’s Perfection.

The totality of knowledge (truth) in our universe is contained in all the quanta of energy of which everything is made and represents at a minimum the Perfect Rationality of our God’s Perfect Intellect, and includes the imprint of his Perfect Will, The Holy Spirit. So, everything that happens in our universe is perfect for its set of circumstances. Furthermore, none of that would apply in a different universe where a different knowledge base (truth system) exists. In fact, it is entirely possible that neither universe would/could recognize the other or, even know the other exists.

To help clarify and fully understand, let’s review what God’s Perfection is. I have defined God’s essence as ‘A Perfect Rational Being’ with no equal nor superior. That Perfect Rationality is exhibited by each tiny particle of energy of which everything in ‘our universe’ is made—notice, I said our universe. I am not suggesting there are other universes, but neither I can’t exclude the possibility. However, if such were the case, that universe would likely be the result of another Perfect Rationality with a different nature from ours. In other words, truth that pertains in our universe would not necessarily apply in the other. Sound crazy? Well maybe but hear me out.

All that talk about another universe with a different perfect rationality is, of course, purely speculative. Despite that fact, if another universe exists with the identical Truth System as ours, it would necessarily be generated by the same Perfect Rationality as ours—our God.

So, let’s get back to the nuances of everyday life. Before I became aware of our God’s essence, I reacted to them with anger, frustration, disappointment, disillusionment etc.—I simply didn’t want those frustrations. However, with my current understanding, I realized most of them were caused by me and my rebellious nature—I didn’t understand God’s Perfect rationality before.

Now, with such occurrences, I have to chuckle to myself and say, “that’s another example of God’s Perfection”. That ideation doesn’t lighten the workload, but it helps me to be more careful and patient. As an afterthought, I spend at least half my time talking to myself saying the same thing, “it’s God’s Perfection”.

I am constantly reminding myself that, if all those untoward actions and reactions did not occur and always in perfect fashion, nothing in this universe could or would be reliable and functional—everything would be a complete failure from its inception. That, of course, means we, nor anything we know of would be here.

It is God’s perfect knowledge-based truth system which makes everything possible including all our frustrations. Simultaneously, it is that same system which makes possible all the joy and happiness we experience for having accomplished something worthwhile using that identical system.

The System is Perfect—we just got to understand it and respect it for what it is— our God. We will never know and understand it all, but as a world society, we are learning more and more of God’s perfection daily. Meanwhile, that same knowledge has made it more likely that we may soon self-destruct, and for what reason? —power, control, and riches (money). The logical question then is, how did we come to this point?

The answer to that question is multifaceted, indeed, but from my perspective, the least common denominator of it all is lack of like mindedness about our creator God—our Perfect Rational Being. Every god of any kind ever suggested is a pure myth. Each person has his own god just as each child has its own Santa. Most of those gods have been deemed to be vengeful and demanding of appeasement— ‘religion’ came into being to satisfy that deemed demand. One might think and certainly would hope that religion would be an ameliorating factor in promoting like mindedness. However, vast experience has shown us just the opposite. Religion of any and all kinds has been the most divisive factor of all. Not only has it fostered and promoted perpetual hostilities among us worldwide but, by its basic irrational nature, it has enticed solution-seekers to dream up more destructive schemes of societal function such as socialism and communism.

Just look at our globe today—it could go up in a giant fireball any second. And what is to blame? —irrational religion and ideologies. All religion is irrational because not one of them I am aware of recognizes and respects our Perfect Rational Being as God. Until they humble themselves to that recognition, there can be no like mindedness—therefore, no peace is possible. Of course, doing so would negate the need for their existence, which means it’s not likely to happen anyways soon.

So, having said all that, we can help the cause of like mindedness and peace immeasurably by doing the following: when anything we attempt hits a snag such as inadvertently setting a cup too close to the edge and having it crash into pieces, or slip on an icy step and sustain an injury, or playing with our phone while driving, wreck our car, or grapple with a piece of netting which snags one time after another, or a billion other such occurrences, just quietly chuckle and say to ourselves, “it’s God’s Perfection”. Then we are becoming more tolerant of our own and other’s deficiencies–-just as Jesus commanded, we are loving our God and our neighbor as ourselves.

SELFISHNESS – THE UNIVERSAL EVIL — HILARY L HUNT MD

You may wonder at the validity of this title – just what does it mean. Well, selfishness may be defined as ‘anything directed at self’. So, as we observe and investigate, we note that literally nothing escapes that singular notation. And, of course, as with every truth in this universe, selfishness is no different –God made it ‘to be that way’.

It is likely that, just as I, you were taught and led to believe that selfishness was a sin. That’s because we did not understand the parameters of selfishness or sin. We know that the concept of sin was introduced by Moses to help him in the civil management of his flock. So, considering that, let’s examine the parameters of selfishness.

Every living thing in this universe has needs —food, hydration, shelter, reproduction. For those needs to be fulfilled, it is an absolute necessity that those requirements be directed at self. So, are they to be categorized as sin? – I think not. Extremes of selfishness which we call greed has not been catalogued by the Catholic Church as one of the seven Cardinal Sins — Pride, Covetousness, Lust, Anger, Gluttony, Envy and Sloth. However, I’d bet a bunch that the cataloguers squabbled quite a bit about whether or not it should be.

Sin, of course, was/is considered to be an offense against God — we hurt God’s feelings — make him unhappy — displeased him. I have shown many, many times in my books and other writings that such ideation is pure foolishness. God is A Perfect Rational Being and, as such, cannot possibly be hurt, displeased, or pleased. Such change in demeanor or attitude would immediately negate God’s perfection and, would, simultaneously, bring him out of eternity — remember, change equals time — there is no time in eternity.

What we are doing with extremes of greed, and any other activities known as sin, is hurting and displeasing our fellow man —we are sinning against our neighbor —we are violating ‘The Golden Rule” and Jesus’ command for us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Again, I have shown that we do not have to ‘like’ (like implies a pleasant sensual experience) anyone or anything, but we must ‘love’ (accept) our neighbor as he/she is.

Then, how is everything in the universe selfish? Again, I have shown in my writings how that even inanimate entities are perpetually selfish. Every grain of sand is constantly bearing down on its neighbors in an attempt to create a bigger, better spot for itself. Likewise, ever solid gravid object is doing the same. Gases will distribute themselves evenly throughout the extent of any space. The elements of wind and precipitation are gradually wearing away the rocks, mountains, and any structure which attempts to block their paths — in time, all will be reduced to a flat surface which offers no resistance. Why do you suppose that is? Without doubt, if there is a God, and I believe there is, it is because God allowed his universe to begin and evolve through a process of built-in imbalance called entropy. That imbalance ensures that change is perpetual — everything is changing in an attempt to come to an equilibrium.

That imbalance(entropy) creates a perpetual ‘need’ in everything. Those needs demand change, and change is measured in units which we call ‘time’. Consider this; if there were no needs, there would be no change; if no change, there would be no time; if no time, only ‘eternity’. We know that God exists in eternity. We also seem to know that at the moment of the ‘big bang’ God release his energy in the form of quanta of several different types. A quantum is the smallest particle of energy, which is perfect in both form and function, is unchanging and unchangeable, is indistinguishable from its counterparts, can neither be created nor destroyed by man, and cannot be further subdivided. As such, each exist in eternity just as God — collectively, they are God.

At the moment of their release, they instantly went about doing perfectly what they were designed to do — they formed the protons and neutrons which make up the nuclei of every atom, and together with electrons, they ultimately formed all the atoms of every element in the universe. Those atoms, of course, have needs and thereby react with other atoms to form compounds of all sorts and descriptions, and ultimately formed all the structures in our universe today. More importantly, at the moment of their release, change in the universe, time, began.

So, here we are nearly fourteen billion years later, and perpetual change continues. Knowledgeable physicists tell us that the universe will likely last another 75 to 100 billion years before it finally ‘balances itself’, and selfishness and time ceases — all will have returned to the ‘singularity (God) from whence they came.

So, you see, without selfishness, we, nor anything else, would be here. Likewise, do you see how ignorant, superstitious, and greedy men have created innumerable cultist religions, all feigning an attempt to appease an angry God?

The native Americans and many other cultures recognized the presence of God in everything. They had no scientific knowledge, but their instincts told them so.

It is scandalous to say the least, but I’ll have to ‘cut the early Israelites a little slack’ — they were stone-cold ignorant — they knew not one basic scientific fact. However, the King and High Priest, soon discovered how lucrative their religion could be. Guess what — they seized upon that discovery with selfish ’greed’. Remember what Jesus had to say about them? He called them ‘a den of thieves’ — a brood of vipers — he overturned their moneychangers’ tables and drove them from the temple — such was his zeal.

Three hundred years later, those who formed the Holy Roman Catholic(universal) Church at the behest of Emperor Constantine, totally ignored Jesus’ teaching of an all-loving God, and, while using his name as a shield, fashioned a church exactly after the format of Judaism — with them in total control, of course —I doubt their sincerity.

I cannot, however, cut modern-day churches any slack. The science has been exposed now — ignorance, mythology, superstition, astrology, and witchcraft have long-since gone ‘out the window’. They persist, however, in religion — I wonder why.

Have you ever taken note that power and control = money? I have, and I’ll bet my last dollar that, if the ‘money-well dried up’, those who masquerade as our ‘spiritual caretakers’ would vanish like ghosts in the night. What do you think?

SCIENCE AND RELIGION — HILARY L HUNT MD

Many of you have heard the expression that someone or something ‘hates …. like the devil hates Holy Water’. I firmly suspect that nowhere in history has that dictum been more applicable than in the relationship between religion and science. So, we are free to apply it here—Religion hates science like the devil hates Holy Water.

From an historical perspective, we are aware that all religion was generated in the pseudoscience of astrology, combined with mythology, superstition, and imagination– that was all those ancient philosophers had to rely on. It started for mid-east and old-world western religions some twenty-four hundred years ago with the Egyptians recognizing the ‘Zodiac’ and assigning certain influences to it. From there, it evolved into a myriad of gods and goddesses who exerted specific controls and influences on their lives.

Eventually, the Hebrews recognized a singular God who created and controlled everything in their universe which amounted to what they could see—sun, moon, stars, comets, and planets. They had no idea about the real universe they lived in—trillions of galaxies containing billions and trillions of stars and other celestial bodies. They had no idea that a light beam traveling 186,000 miles per second would require 100,000 years to traverse the face or our galaxy, the Milky Way, alone — recorded human history is only forty-five hundred years old — such was their collective ignorance.

Simultaneously, the Far-easterners, and inhabitants of the New Western world, the Americas, recognized the presence of eternal being(s) which existed in everything as well as in some faraway places in the sky—whatever their collective imaginations dictated. In turn, each group worldwide developed its own set of understandings of their god(s) and, furthermore, many devised methods of honoring and/or appeasing their god(s). That appeasement came in the form of sacrificial religion with some sacrificing live humans as the offering.

As far as I can determine, the Hebrews were the only group who developed a God patterned exactly after their own nature—he could be loving or hateful, merciful or vengeful, accepting or rejecting. More importantly, he could be bargaining. Even though he was all-powerful, the Hebrews believed they were obliged to create contracts with their God and ‘hold his toes to the fire’. By their own admission, they ‘got their tail feathers singed’ when God reneged on the first contract and allowed King Nebuchadnezzar to destroy the temple. But they were persistent and ‘made God’ honor the second one—such was their collective imagination, arrogance, and audacity.

We are familiar with ‘the rest of the story—Jesus. The Jews had Jesus killed for teaching heresy—love of God and neighbor. In fact, I am convinced that the Jewish Christians who formed the Holy Roman Catholic Church, and those who wrote and rewrote the Gospels were very careful not to state specifically what Jesus was teaching that justified his being called a traitor, thereby mandating crucifixion — we have to ‘read between the lines’ to extract that understanding. Had they openly admitted to his traitorous teachings, they would have been forced to humble themselves to ordinary human existences as Jesus suggested.

However, those bishops who formed the Holy Roman Catholic Church in the year 325 AD, having already experienced the bonanza of power, control, and lucre, were not the least bit inclined to honor Jesus’ teachings of humility and love. Instead, in direct defiance of Jesus, they formulated a Church patterned exactly after Jewish sacrificial ritual with them as the controller and dispenser of Divine graces.

Mind you, at that point in time, there still was no scientific information available—the earth was flat; the earth was the center of the universe; the celestial bodies exerted supernatural powers over them, ala astrology; the earth was supported on five crooked, wobbly legs and was always in danger of falling into the netherworld below. They knew no truth, but they did know how to put and keep themselves in total control while milking the hard-earned resources of their subjects—the very thing which Jesus railed against that got him killed.

Things went well for them and their new-founded Church as long as Constantine and his son who followed him as Emperor of the Roman Empire were alive. However, with the fall of the Roman Empire, their powerbase was destroyed and, to put it mildly, all hell broke loose. There was a parade of bad Popes; priests and popes alike became sexual predators; squandering popes depleted the Vatican coffers prompting the sale of indulgences to rich people who aspired to have a glimmer of hope of getting to heaven — an indulgence is vehicle by which a certain amount of time in Purgatory can be reduced. Not all popes were bad, but many turned to ascetics such as Jerome and Augustine for answers to philosophical questions such as original sin and the role and/or value of women in the church. Women became so deprecated in Jerome’s estimation that they represented sin—were it not for women, men wouldn’t/couldn’t sin. According to Bart Ehrman, professor of Bible and Religion at North Carolina University, Jerome, in translating the Bible from Greek to Latin, either eliminated or dramatically changed any reference to anything good about women.

In the meantime, because of power struggles between Rome and the Eastern Church, generated mainly by disagreements about married priests and sexual matters in general, plus a lingering argument about the Holy Spirit, a complete split occurred beginning in 1054. In 1095, the Pope instigated the Crusades to win back the Holy Land which had been conquered and occupied by the Mohammedans. The Crusades lasted intermittently until 1396.

Two hundred years earlier, the inquisitions were instituted to eliminate witches and to protect the earth from falling into the netherworld by unlawful sexual activity—sexual intercourse was prohibited on any elevated structure and violators were burned at the stake. That prohibition was generated by the superstitious idea that the shaking caused by sexual activity on an elevated structure could cause the earth to topple from its wobbly legs into the netherworld below. The Church seemed to be in near-total shambles — there still was no science— witches ran wild and even managed to get to the New World —witness the Salem Witch Trials.

In the year 1497 science began to rear its head — Vasco da Gama sailed to the Far East and back proving the earth was round but three years passed before the Pope ceased burning people at the stake for denying it was flat. Then, in the early 1600’s, Galileo discovered the sun to be the center of our solar system. He escaped burning at the stake by making a public recantation of his findings before the Inquisition. However, he spent the last nine years of his life under house arrest.

Science was beginning. The word science comes from the Latin word Scientia which means knowledge which of course, is truth. Prior to Vasco da Gama and Galileo there was little if any pure truth known. The great Greek and Roman philosophers based all their premises on astrology and mythology. Therefore, all their conclusions were false. Thomas Aquinas, whose philosophy the Catholic Church adopted, also based his methodology on Aristotelian philosophy. Aquinas, for purposes of staying in line with biblical and Church teaching, developed a dualistic philosophy which puts God in one place and his creation in another–not only two different places but also two different natures.

So, fast-forward to today. Shortly after taking office, Pope Francis is said to have stated that there is no such place as hell — that idea had been dreamed up by the Church to scare people into submission. In addition, in response to the conservative outcry at his apparent liberalism, the Pope said: ‘None of the rules have changed. We just got to stop talking about them’ (paraphrased). It seems obvious to me that statement was intended to infer that ‘with the passage of time, the Church could pretend the rules never existed in the first place and purge them from the system’ — all that designed to stem the tide of people dropping out of the Church.

Many great thinkers, among whom I disclaim membership, throughout the centuries, have recognized the presence of God ‘in all his creation’. That is, in fact, what Jesus taught us— ‘split a piece of wood, and I’ll be there; lift a rock and find me there’ (paraphrased).

Since I have irrefutably defined the Essence of God as; God is A Perfect Rational Being, and since the understanding of Quantum Mechanics (particle physics) clearly demonstrates that everything in this universe is ‘perfect’ in both form and function, it is not only logical, but I believe mandatory, to accept the premise that nothing in existence can be unless the Holy Spirit (Will of God) resides within it. That understanding means that God is certainly in everything as Jesus, Saint Francis of Assisi, Meister Eckart and many others have proclaimed. That understanding also brings God and science into ‘perfect unity and harmony — God is science — God is Perfect Truth — there can be no truth outside God’s Perfect Truth System which is demonstrated conclusively by the perfection of every basic particle of energy (quantum) in existence.

So, where does that leave us? I do not know about you, but I do know about me— it left me ‘crying out for truth’ from a wilderness of mythology, astrology, witchcraft, superstition, Ignorance, and imagination’. I was forced to embark on a journey of understanding.

What I have observed during the last seventy years is a continuous ‘squirming’ by the Church to gradually bringing itself into some scientific alignment without losing credibility. Its plan seems to be a subtle, long-term acceptance of scientific principles, and an equally subtle ‘sweeping under the carpet’ of archaic and erroneous ideas as the generations go by — knowing that those who remember will soon be gone, and those remaining have little or no interest in studying history. So, the Church pretends — ‘it’s always been that way’.

It truly breaks my heart to say this, but I know of no religion or ‘so-called Faith’, now or ever, which teaches anything remotely similar to God’s truth — I know of no legitimate religion.

HISTORY OF BAPTISM — HILARY L HUNT MD

A cursory review of ancient history will reveal that baptism, as a form of ritual cleansing and purification, was practiced by literally all cultures in ancient times, including Hindus. It seems likely, that the Egyptians were the earliest to employ it. A ritual washing in the waters of the Nile River was a surefire means of obtaining closeness to and favor of the gods. In fact, one account shows that drowning in the Nile or submersion of a corpse in its waters was a certain means of restoring life with their gods in the afterlife.

I can find no reference to Jewish baptism prior to Moses. You will recall that the Israelites were enslaved by the Egyptians for over two hundred years. Undoubtedly, during those entrapment years they adopted the Egyptian custom of baptism – hence it’s appearance in Mosaic law and its continuance till the time of John the Baptist. However, John’s baptism was a ritual cleansing of repentance.

Most Christians are taught to believe that Jesus, by his submission to baptism by John, gave sanctifying significance to the event – hence we have the ‘sacrament of Baptism’ in many Christian religions.

Now, let’s consider the plain, simple facts. Jesus was a Jewish male aged thirty-three. Number one, it would be unthinkable for a Jewish male of his age not to be married. Number two, it would be just as unthinkable for him not to have been baptized – maybe many times before — after all, it was a ritual purification. The bible writers glorified John’s baptism of Jesus by having God speak directly from the clouds to a local audience verifying his pleasure with the event and certifying Jesus as his only Son.

I have shown many, many times that all those ‘miracles’ are impossible because God would have to ‘change his nature from that of ‘a perfect rational being’ to a nilly-willy overlord who acted like a drunken sailor and could not be trusted under any circumstance – not a chance. In my humble opinion all that represents the mythological, astrological, superstitious ignorance of those writers who were determined to have their vision (version) of religion come true. As I have noted many times before, we simply do not and cannot know what the original writers said. The versions of the bible we have now represent the writing and rewriting ad nauseum of a single copy which was made from possibly thousands of recopies. It was the only surviving copy and was made two hundred-plus years after the original.

We can and should be very suspicious of all accounts from any current bible. That justification stems from the known fact that three hundred years after Jesus’ death, the Jews remained under Roman control. Rome, as it was in Jesus’ day, still allowed the Jews and their newfound Christian religions to be self-governed concerning their religion(s). The only thing Rome cared about was their productivity. By the year 325 AD, there were 1800 so-called bishops in the Christian domain of Rome. A bishop was the most prominent person in his community. Each Bishop had his own ideas about Jesus – what he said, and what he did, and what he meant. Hardly any two of them agreed with any others. Therefore, they were squabbling and infighting among themselves. They became so involved in their differences that their productivity diminished noticeably. Emperor Constantine became alarmed by their lack of production. His coffers were already depleted by all the wars he had been fighting. At that time, the official Roman religion was a pagan religion known as Mithraism. Constantine reasoned it would be wiser to make Christianity the official religion of the Empire, rather than further deplete his treasury and resources by trying to coerce the squabbling Christians into productivity.

Accordingly, he called a conference at Nicaea of the so-called Christian bishops. All eighteen hundred bishops were invited but only about three hundred attended. They squabbled among themselves from May till August before a consensus was reached. Some dissidents were excommunicated. Thus, Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire, and it had full support and protection of the Roman army. Any dissenters had two choices: beheading on the spot or banishment into the wilds.

The religion so formed represented the collective wishes of the consensus attendees. More importantly, it put each of them into positions of high power and influence. So, it is unthinkable that they would not have patterned their newfound Christian religion exactly after the lucrative father-religion, the Jewish religion – sacrifice and all. Only, this time the sacrifice was to be unbloody (they didn’t want all that mess). They devised a plan of actually recreating Jesus out of bread and wine, and then offering him to the Father in an unbloody sacrificial way – the Catholic ‘sacrifice of the mass’ was instituted.

Of course, baptism became the rite of initiation into the newformed church. Anyone not baptized could not enter heaven. Even though one might have led a holy life, if not baptized, he was relegated to a place in eternity known as ‘limbo’. When I was a child studying and learning Catholic catechism, I was taught that early infant baptism was imperative so that a newborn baby might not die and be committed to Limbo forever. Later, as a medical student and medical doctor delivering babies in a Catholic institution, Saint Louis University, that same urgency was instilled in me. I was to immediately baptize any newborn who might appear unlikely to survive the usual seven days allowed before average infant baptism. It is a curious thing that I haven’t heard the word Limbo mentioned from any pulpit in the last 40-50 years. Curious too, I have heard no protest from any pulpit about parents waiting two years or longer to have their child baptized – think I know why – it’s called alienation – don’t lose any prospects at any cost – to hell with limbo.

The Church gets away with this dictatorial overlording in a sly and cunning way. They know young people growing up don’t know the difference – they never heard of limbo, And the Church knows the old dudes like me who do know and who do remember will soon be gone. So, it’s conveniently ‘swept under the carpet’ as though it never happened.

It not only happened with limbo’, but also, it’s happening with nearly all the Church’s dictatorial, controlling rules, the breach of which would send one straight to hell or limbo. Again, I think I know why – it’s called ‘money honey’. People are dropping out of religion like dead flies falling off a wall. The dastardliest observation yet is the Church’s occult stance on abortion. The Church has gone from absolute prohibition against artificial birth control of any kind to overtly condoning the vilest of birth control devices or techniques, abortion.

Not only has the Pope given his blessing to the two biggest proponents of abortion in this country, Joe Biden, and Nancy Pelosi, both of whom profess to be Catholic, but now he has made a pro-abortionist bishop in California a Cardinal of the Catholic Church. Again, I think I know why – it’s called ‘money-honey’. It is intended to stem the outflow of young nonconformists from the church. Such hypocrisy, I have never witnessed in my lifetime of over 90 years – but the youngsters will never know the difference –another ‘sweep it under the rug’ deal.

So, to sum it all up in one neat little package – it only has value if it benefits the money flow of the Church – to hell with morality. And might I quickly add, I seriously doubt that my observations, or at least similar ones, are not applicable in most other churches besides the Catholic Church.

THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS (revised) — HILAY L HUNT MD

It is very likely that many, maybe most, of you have never heard of The Gospel Of Thomas. In truth, neither had I until about thirty years ago. In my research, I accidently discovered a reference to it, and being inquisitive, I purchase a book, edited by Ron Cameron, titled, The Other Gospels. What I discovered was a rather ‘eye-opening’ history of which I was unaware. It represents part of a cache of Coptic Christian writings found in a cave in 1945 at Nag Hammadi, Egypt. Furthermore, it seems clearly to predate the Canonical Gospels for two reasons. It appears to be Jesus talking directly to his disciples, with Thomas as the transcriptionist, and more importantly, it contains no mention of Jesus’ Pasion, Crucifixion, Resurrection, etc., as do the four Canonical Gospels. That, of course, implies it was written while Jesus was alive.

While first reading it, I was taken aback by some of Jesus’ statements and proclamations. His apparent description of God as being in all things, and being the ‘soul’ of everything, seemed to me to be in stark contrast to the ‘dualistic’ nature of the God which I had been taught in my Roman Catholic upbringing and education. I had always been taught that God was separate from his creation. He resided in Heaven, a ‘place’ somewhere in the sky where he was able to observe everything that went on in his universe. In fact, in the Old Testament, God is described as being very ‘vengeful’ and ‘hostile’ at times. However, he could show ‘mercy’, but one had to beg incessantly, and even ‘bargain’ with God to get it.

Well, also, there was a time when rich people could actually buy God’s mercy. You know, that seems like a paradox to me because, in one of the Canonical Gospels, Jesus is quoted as saying, “it would be easier for a camel to go through the needle’s eye than for a rich man to get to heaven”. Think about that for a second—the very thing that separates man from God, money, could be used by that same man to buy a ticket into God’s Heaven—hmm. Well, we know, of course, what he really was buying was a ‘clear conscience’, while, at the same time, enriching the Vatican coffers which had been depleted by squandering Popes. By the way, for the uninitiated in Roman Catholicism, that ticket was/is known as an ‘indulgence’. Later on, those tickets (indulgences) were attached to prayers—every prayer in my thick daily missal granted a varying number of days indulgence (reduced time in purgatory) by its reciting.

Certainly, there was never any notion taught to me that God lived in me, or a rat, or a grain of sand, or a flower etc.. It is possible, however, that God, once upon a time, might have lived in snakes, because snakes could actually talk to humans way back when—of course, they can’t now—well, maybe they do, and we just can’t understand them. Anyhow, years later, after Jesus’ death, the Apostle, Paul asserted that we are ‘temples of the Holy Spirit’—don’t you just wonder what his understanding of that statement was? —I do. It seems clear to me that likely no one, including Paul, understood what he was saying. I am allowed to say that because roughly three hundred years later, the squabbling Bishops who met in Nicaea, at Emperor Constantine’s behest, to form an ‘official Christian (catholic) Church, certainly didn’t know, and still don’t—they have yet to define the essence of God or the Trinity—I have done both.

It was several years later, while studying particle physics (Quantum Mechanics), that the Gospel of Thomas (Jesus’ direct words) began to ring true. Jesus was instructing them, unequivocally, that everything resided in God, and that God resided in everything. The Gospel of Thomas gave me the ‘Philosophical basis’, and Quantum Mechanics gave me the ‘Scientific Basis’ for defining unequivocally, and irrefutably, the essence of God—God Is A Perfect Rational Being. That definition not only allows for, but demands Trinity, and, furthermore, makes a graphic, visual understanding of Trinity God possible. I will explain one more time here:

God, with his Perfect Intellect reflects upon himself. That reflection, being in the supernatural, is a living being, God the Son, identical to the Father and Perfect in every respect. Those two Perfect individuals visualizing each other perpetually have no choice except to love, choose, accept, will each other. That loving, choosing, accepting, willing each other is the Holy Spirit or The Will Of God. So, there you have a simple, clear, easy to visualize, graphic pictorial of the Holy Trinity — something we have always been told was unintelligible to us humans. The reason we were always told that was because the tellers didn’t, and still do not, know the essence of the God of whom they speak. Without that essential definition and understanding, they could not possibly understand a Trinity God. The Church, in its ignorance has ascribed the Son (second person of the Trinity) to Jesus — nothing could be farther from the truth. Jesus was a zealot of the highest degree. His intention was to supplant the oppressive religion of the Jews with an understanding that God is All Love. Jesus was a human genius who recognized God’s presence in everything, including himself. He knew he would be killed for his zealotry, but he had hoped to convert the entire world to understanding and accepting God’s Love through the missionary work of his apostles — he was a monumental failure.

His failure is clearly demonstrated by those who formed the Holy Roman Catholic Church some three hundred years after his death. They reverted right back to the Jewish sacrificial religion, as exhibited by their institution of the sacrifice of the mass as a substitute religion for Judaism — it’s still going strong to the tune of over two billion Catholics worldwide.

The Gospel Of Thomas clearly shows Jesus’ genius mind at work, disparaging organized religion as being, not only of no practical value, but rather a major detergent to peace. Instead of being a uniting force, religion sets people against each other—witness the constant turmoil existing among Christians, Muslims and Atheistic Communists today. Rather than worshiping and attempting to appease a mythical god, sitting in some ‘ethereal palace’, Jesus commands us to see God in everything in order to find inner peace and communion with God and his creation.

We have to understand that every creature is ‘our friend’ in God. You might object by observing that snakes, ticks, spiders, mosquitos, chiggers etc. bite us—so would bears, wolves, alligators, lions, tigers, etc. kill and eat us. However, we, in turn, do the same to them. The reality is that they, as well as we, have to eat in order to survive. Just as we, they are doing what God designed them to do. When we come to recognize God’s presence in everything, we see clearly that, in reality, all of God’s creatures are feeding off him—we exist in a massive, self-contained and self-sustaining selfish system of perfect rationality, which is God. Simply stated, homo sapiens just happens to be the latest creature to appear in Gods evolutionary plan—wouldn’t you love to know what comes next—I certainly would. However, I might not like being here— very likely, I would be the hunted rather than the hunter. Since the earth is predicted to exist another five billion years or so, that creature, and, maybe, many more are in God’s evolutionary plan.

Jesus ‘exhortations’, found in the Gospel of Thomas, continue to be ignored, as they have been since his death—they actually killed him because of them. He was a traitor—his philosophy would have destroyed their power base and eliminated their ‘money-grubbing’ control over their subjects by supplanting their sacrificial religion of appeasement with a communion of ‘lovers’ —all would see God in everything —all would accept Jesus’ command to love God and our neighbor— peace would prevail.

Four or five years ago, I issued a plea for the recognition and acceptance of The Worldwide Communion of Spirituality. That plea is for the recognition and acceptance that the Spirit (Will) of God is imprinted onto every particle of energy of which everything in existence is made. Therefore we, and everything in existence represent a ‘mirror image’ of God—should God be fighting himself? I think not—what do you think?

Since the above post was made, I have published another book, Provocative Catholic. It shows how religion of any kind is the main cause of discord in the world. It also shows that all religion is false and cultist because all worship a god which is mythical. I am not only allowed but mandated to say ‘mythical’ because not one of them can define the essence of their god. I have defined the essence of my God thus: God is a Perfect Rational Being. That definition dispels the myth of all known organized religions. Furthermore, it shows conclusively that our only ‘justifiable prayer’ is thanksgiving. Also, it offers a ‘foolproof’ plan for peace.

By the way, the word eucharist means thanksgiving, but the Catholic Church and its near mimickers have made it into a ‘sacrificial’ offering–-they are still trying to appease an angry god just as the Jews were doing two thousand ago when Jesus called them hypocrites, a den of thieves, and a brood of vipers. Jesus despised religion and readily said so.

CONSCIENCE-HILARY L HUNT MD

CONSCIENCE-Do you have a conscience? If so, why?—where did it come from? If you don’t have one, why not? Just what is a conscience anyway, and how do we go about getting one?

One might define ‘conscience’ as an intellectual inner voice which tells us right from wrong. Obviously, each person’s conscience differs from all others in some degree or another, because each person’s life experiences and inculcations are somewhat different. Strictly speaking, we are not born with a conscience—only the ability to develop one. So, how do we get a conscience?

There are many sources for conscience formation. The most basic is our parents and/or guardians. From day one, so to speak, we are counseled repeatedly about what to do and not do—later on about what to think and not to think. Then comes the big ‘conscience producer’—religion(s). Consider this; world-wide there are thousands of different religions and/or religious sects—over 33,000 so-called Christian religions alone. Each religion proclaims to be the best and, in some cases, the only way to heaven. Of course that ‘heaven’ is different also from one religion to the next.

It should be very clear that each person’s conscience must be somewhat different .As in literally all considerations, consciences vary from one extreme of no conscience at all to extreme scrupulousness, and fit very nicely on a ‘bell distribution curve’. How, then is it possible to have a limited conscience? I suspect that in most cases it involves little if any parenting—children in such circumstances are exposed to very little if any discipline. Therefore, they have little regard for other’s rights, and seemingly, no respect for law, either civil or religious—witness the blatant irrational civil unrest and rioting of today.

On the other hand, at the other end of the spectrum, we observe people who are extremely ‘reserved’ about everything—often to an very irrational degree. They are so ‘tied up in knots’ of scrupulosity that they have difficulty functioning in everyday society—some cannot and require institutionalization. Others are mandated to be under the influence of mood altering drugs including possible heavy alcohol intake in order to function. Legitimately, one might ask, ‘why is that?’

If we look back to Genesis, we see that Cain had no problem with slaying his brother Abel. Later on, the folks of Sodom and Gomorra had no problem with all sorts of sexual deviations. Fast forward to Moses—he had no problem killing someone, but he did know he’d better run for sake of his own life. Later on, in a desperate attempt to control his subjects, he gave humanity the concept of sin and the guilt associated with it—he gave us the Ten Commandments. They were, in fact, good ‘civil law’ but went unheeded until he put a price on their violation—God’s vengeance—‘vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord’. Instantly, sin, guilt, fear of punishment from God, and religion were invented—all for the sake of enforcing ‘civil law’.

Follow the history. Those ten laws eventuated into six hundred plus Jewish laws which addressed literally every aspect of Hebrew society. Then comes Jesus and Christianity—what an explosive development of God’s Laws. In the beginning, it was a conglomerate of squabbling between various settlements about what the conscience was to think. It became so bad that Emperor Constantine called the authorities(bishops)in those little settlements together and mandated that they establish once and for all a religion (conscience generator) of their liking—it would be the ‘law of the land’ enforced by the Roman army. Only a few came to the generation site (Nicaea), but those few succeeded in reaching a consensus—Catholicism was born. Three to four hundred years later, the Prophet Mohammed appeared with a new religion, Islam—the three Abrahamic religions were established and each with its own set if values.

In the meantime, in the Far East, Buddhism and Hinduism were flourishing—they were/are vastly different from the Abrahamic religions. Simultaneously, native cultures world-wide were establishing their own endemic religious understandings and practices.

Early on in Catholicism, the Ten Commandments, plus some Church laws were sufficient. However, as is usual, loopholes began to appear—peoples discovered ways that their consciences could avoid some of the dire consequences. No way was that to be allowed. So, gradually, as one loophole was closed with a new law, another loophole appeared. It reached a fever pitch during the Inquisitions but even then it had just begun to gain steam. Loopholes were appearing, seemingly from nowhere, and each mandated closure.

When I was a child studying Catholic Catechism daily, the ‘Baltimore Catechism” was relatively small—likely a 70-80 page 4″x5″ pamphlet. Guess what, the collective conscience of Catholics became so cunning and created so many loopholes that the current Catechism of the Catholic Church consists of 904, 6″x9″ fine print pages. The question is ‘who knows exactly what’s in those pages, and better still, how are they regarded’ (who really cares). As Catholics and Protestants alike have come to realize the irrationality of many church teachings, two things have happened—many have quit churching—most seem to ignore the rules. Both of those attitudes are conscience reliving ‘tools’. Observing the lack of Church attendance with the attendant loss of income prompted Pope Francis to proclaim; ‘No rules have changed. We just got to stop talking about them’.

It would seem rather obvious that of the five billion or so non Catholic people in the world, not many of them would know or care about what’s in that Catechism. So what about their consciences—very obviously, they would be vastly different. That’s not to say that we all couldn’t agree on some items. Let’s try ‘murder’ for instance—no way—there are people who consider everyone else in existence to be an ‘infidel’ and must be murdered according to Allah’s dictates. What about sex—try getting a consensus there. I could go on and on and point out countless instances of major societal attitudinal differences regarding what we may consider right or wrong. It would be impossible to get a significant consensus about literally anything.

The point I’m trying to make is that there is no such thing as a ‘universal collective conscience’. Neither is there the possibility of any two people having identical consciences—similar, yes—identical, no. The reason is very clear—religion and ideology.

If everyone in the world could be like-minded, then every conscience would be identical, and guess what—peace would break out.

I have written extensively about these subjects in my two books, Wilderness Cry, and Peace in Spirituality. More importantly, my frequent blog posts, such as this one, elaborate on some aspect of my philosophy. It all begins with an irrefutable definition of the essence of God. God is a Perfect Rational Being. That awareness dictates that the “Spirit of God’ (Holy Spirit) is imprinted on each and every particle of God’s energy which makes up everything in existence. In that real sense, we and everything in existence are ‘one’.

That knowledge prompted me about two years ago to call for the understanding and acceptance of The World-Wide Communion of Spirituality—the absolute only way peace can prevail.

OPPORTUNIST- May be described as an unscrupulous person who exploits circumstances to gain immediate advantage. Throughout the ages we have seen this form of activity played out in many different forums and on many different stages.

Lets consider the plight of Black Americans for a moment. If I understand history correctly, they were brought to America in the belly of ships equipped for no better than livestock. They were sold into slavery to the southern plantation owners. They lived in shacks on the meagerest food supply, and toiled daily in the fields. They had no rights of any kind since they were not considered to be truly human. Neither could they own land nor could they vote. Frequently their women were raped by white owners—just to enumerate some or their horrible existences.

In the early 1860s’, president Lincoln declared them to be freed—the Civil War began. Eventually, the North prevailed and the slaves were freed—what then? What were they going to do? Having no wherewithal and prompted by their natural instincts to get away from the their ‘slave masters’, they gradually migrated north to the cities. Here again, they were clustered together in meager housing with more meager sustenance—the slums were enhanced and enlarged.

With that brief history, fast-forward to my personal memory—post WW2. Every Democrat politician I have known or heard of has made wild, opportunistic promises to ‘help’ Black people in exchange for their vote. In spite of the fact that it was Abraham Lincoln, a Republican who freed them, like dutiful little sheep, they have obliged the Democrats by an estimated %90 or better margin.

To my understanding, and without much support from the Black voter, Donald Trump has done more for Black society than any other president in history. Yet look at the national scene. We have seen perpetual protesting from both Black and White against ‘Police brutality’ fostered by social media videos. Peaceful protests a la Dr. Martin Luther King are impossible—the paid anarchists, in opportunistic fashion, seize upon the moment for rioting, burning and looting. Not only that but it has gone on in some quarters for months with no Democrat ‘voice of dissent’. Donald Trump has been perpetually demeaned by liberal media and Democrats attempting to shift the blame onto him—another example of opportunism.

Now lets address other very visible cases of historical opportunism. The bible tells us that Moses commit murder as a young man. He was forced to escape and live in exile for roughly twenty years. Upon his return, sensing a void of leadership in the Israelite community, he and Aaron opportunistically seized power control over them and became their leader. Moses, of course, was responsible for the 10 Commandments and the creation of the concept of sin, another case of opportunism—Moses could maintain control of the Israelites by convincing them that God could either like and help them or he could hate and hurt them if they disobeyed him.

Now let’s fast-forward a few thousand years to the year 325 AD. Constantine was Emperor of the Roman Empire and the Jewish community as well as the new Christian communities were still under Roman control. By that time Jesus had been dead almost three hundred years. The ‘Christian’ Church was flourishing in a way. Due to the ‘power’ transfer in the hierarchy of the Church, the most prominent male in each little settlement had been consecrated a Bishop—there were 1800 such Bishops at the time. That may seem very well and good but there was one big problem. Few, if any of those Bishops and their followers agreed with the others about matters concerning Jesus, what he did, what he said, and what he meant. They were constantly bickering among themselves—at times actually fighting. They were supposed to be working and producing for the Empire, but their productivity was severely hampered by the distraction of religious differences.

Prior to that time, the official religion of the Empire was a pagan religion called Mithraism, and the Romans generally loved it. Opportunistically, Constantine, realized it would be easier to change the State Religion than try to settle disputes between Christian sects. Consequently, he called a general council at Nicaea. He invited all 1800 Bishops and offered to pay all of their expenses—only 180 or so showed up. Realizing how opportunistic they would be, he commissioned them to form a new unified religion of their own liking—it would become the new official Religion of the Roman Empire—Mithraism would be abolished. Anyone who refused to accept the new religion had two choices, beheading or abolishment to the wilds—what an opportunity for the Bishops. Of course, there were dissenters—some were beheaded. Eventually a consensus was reached and the Catholic (universal) church was born. Guess what, opportunistically, those Bishops put themselves in ‘total control’, and that control was guaranteed by the Roman Army.

So, has anything changed seventeen hundred years later? If so, I have been unable to detect it in my eighty seven years. We persist in having unscrupulous people in all walks of life preying on their fellow man—some say it’s worse now than ever—I doubt that.

There’s a reason for everything, and there’s a solution to every problem. Sex–volumes and volumes have been written about this subject, and, undoubtedly, many, many more will be written. Some of those writings have included scientific considerations and understandings—many have been written as a propaganda tool by and for various individuals or groups.

Throughout recorded history, sex has been portrayed as either ‘good’ or ‘bad’. There was a goddess of love and a goddess of fertility—sex was considered to be very good and desirable. The Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian (Asian) text on sexuality, eroticism, and the fulfillment of good emotional life, all of which are derived from sex. It was the Hindu recognition of the beauty in sexual pleasure as integrated into their everyday lives.

On the other hand, the Israelites put ‘chains of bondage’ on sex—a woman became a man’s property, and if she had sex with another man, she would be stoned to death. Parenthetically, Jesus attempted to change that attitude—he got killed for that.

Thereafter, those who developed philosophy and religion in the name of Jesus ignored his attitude toward sex. Initially, they were seemingly tolerant of ‘free sex’. Marriage was not yet considered a ‘sacrament’ and most so-called marriages were not expected to last more than a few years. That attitude seemed to persist until the fall of the Holy Roman Empire. Prior to the fall, the the hierarchy had the absolute ‘backing’ of the Empire—their sole concern seemed to be keeping the flock together by stamping out any heresy which popped up.

With the fall of the Empire, the church had no ‘weapon of control’—guess what—they pulled one ‘right out of the hat’ just like the ‘rabbit trick’. It took a few hundred years, but eventually ‘the lights came on’—sex would be their weapon. Immediately sex became almost ‘criminal’. Furthermore, women became synonymous with evil—after all, if there were no women, men wouldn’t be tempted to sin. Weddings were grudgingly allowed but not inside church buildings—the sex smells associated with women would attract too many ‘demons’ and, consequently, the church would become irretrievably ‘contaminated’.

Ascetics were rapidly gaining control of the church—one such ‘theological expert’ proclaimed that ‘it would be better for the human race to go extinct rather than be propagated by sexual union’. Irrationality regarding sex had reached its peak. Jerome was one such ascetic. According to professor Bart Ehrman, in translating the bible from Geek to Latin, Jerome removed or altered almost every reference to ‘anything good’ about women—such was his warped disdain of sex. Wouldn’t a psychoanalysis of Jerome’s personality be interesting to review—it would be to me.

From the beginning the Church was immersed in the mythology of astrology and Genesis,and it had to have a weapon to eradicate the ‘wayward’ sheep. What better weapon could be had than the second strongest natural urge in nature, sex—and the Inquisition was born. Witches were burned at the stake routinely, as was anyone accused of displaying any pleasure during sex. In addition, sex anywhere except on the ground was cause for execution by fire—the vibrations caused by sexual activity in an elevated structure would cause the earth to fall off its five crocked legs into the ‘netherworld’ below.

The psychological consequences of such irrational restrictions on a perfectly normal drive were devastating, and still are. Taylor in his astute book, Sex In History, describes Medieval Europe as “one giant cesspool of psychosis”—such was the dramatic effect of those restrictions. The Protestants in this country’s early history got into the act with the famous ‘Salem Witch Trials’—I believe nineteen people were convicted and hanged as witches before the government intervened and stopped the practice.

I used the term ‘and still are’ above referring to the Church’s austerity concerning anything to do with sex. For the first fifty years of my life, the Church’s attitude was extremely demeaning and controlling of sex. Their mandates created extreme psychological havoc in Catholics. Gradually, as people dropped away from the Church, the pulpits became mostly silent about sexual matters—haven’t heard a sermon demeaning ‘birth control’ in at least thirty five to forty years. Also, it is quite obvious, that few, if any, Catholics pay any attention at all to the Church laws regarding sexual matters—their ‘common sense’ dictates their behavior.

Pope Francis said it pretty succinctly when he announced, ‘No rules have changed. We just got to stop talking about them’ (paraphrased). Also, totally contrary to Church law, he said that couples should live together for two to three years before getting married in order to check their compatibility and, thereby, reduce the divorce rate. I’m convinced that he is correct in that assessment.

Furthermore, and more importantly, children should be instructed in both the science and psychology of sex. They need guidance in a proper and acceptable method of dealing with the insatiable drive of sex. The Church (sin police) are still attempting to control sexuality, but I can assure you that from my observation point, they are failing and failing miserably. Furthermore, their feeble but persistent attempts are alienating more and more—the pews are getting emptier by the day.

My contention is simply this; instead of attempting to control people with ancient mythology, the Church would be much better off and have much more meaning if it got on the science railroad. Science gives specific and explicit meaning to concepts of God and our universe. It beautifies and glorifies God’ beautiful creation. It shows that God’s presence is in everything in existence—otherwise it couldn’t be. More importantly, it helps to ‘mystify’ the beauty of sexual union—what a wonderful method of insuring species survival—instill in every individual, whether mouse or man, an irresistible urge to mate.

Several months ago, in recognition of God’s presence in everything, which brings everything into ‘communion’ with God, I called for the recognition and acceptance of The World-wide Communion of Spirituality as the only means to perpetual and universal peace. I have routinely reiterated that call. That concept involves an understanding that the Spirit (will) of God is imprinted onto every tiny particle of energy (quantum), of which everything in existence is made. Therefore the same Spirit pervades everything thereby imparting a ‘commonality’ to all in God.
