Guilt-Wilderness Cry- Hilary L Hunt M.D.

cropped-img_0360-1-e1509913859388.pngGUILT: now doesn’t that word run chill down your spine? How many thousands (millions) of times have you experienced it and why? Very likely, from the day of your earliest recognizance until this very moment, you have been constantly reprimanded and/or reminded of how in some way or another you are bad. Literally all of us have been instilled with that basic attitude. Why? It all goes back to the superstitious interpretation of how our God feels about us. Anytime we crook our little finger the wrong way God frowns and prescribes punishment. Very early on in civilization, those who chose to establish themselves as leaders, discovered that exact ideation as being a very useful tool in controlling the masses. Those who had “direct access” to God and could deliver his exact messages to the populace found that tactic to be fool-proof. Guess what, it’s still that way today. Basically every preacher in the world is controlling you and extracting your hard earned money from your pockets with continual threats of damnation in hellfire as the result of your unresolved guilt. They paint you a picture of a vengeful God who treats you and thinks of you as unwanted children who are dragging him down—he would readily eliminate you from his sight forever—all he needs is the tiniest excuse. So, you live in perpetual anxiety and fear, knowing full-well that you have stirred God’s ire irreparably.

Now lets step back, take a deep breath, and make a rational analysis of the situation. Presuming God to be real, we can and should make the following observations: 1-God is Perfect which means he is Perfect Love. 2-Perfect love means God cannot possibly do or cause to be done any harm to anyone; neither can he be pleased nor displeased. 3- No Perfect good God could possibly allow a tiny baby  to come into an existence where it is immediately put on trial for the “sins” of some mythical characters who supposedly lived thousands of years ago. 4-God could only create that which represents his mirror image, which in fact is every tiny particle (quantum) of energy in the universe. Having created it in his “image and likeness”, it is not possible for God to reject himself (you). You are created in the image and likeness of your creator. Yes, we all are selfish—God made us that way so his universe could function in real time. Selfishness demands need; need demands change; change is measured in units of time. If there were no selfishness, there would be no need. If there were no need there would be no change, and if there were no change, there would be no time—only eternity. The universe would be frozen in eternity. But that was not God’s plan. He planned a universe of selfishness, so he, himself, could die in atonement in the person of Jesus,. That death fulfilled two essential tasks: God became Perfect Love and we became %100 cleared of our selfishness. So relax, take a deep breath and see the beauty of God in your neighbor. Once you can see that beauty, you then can see your own beauty—your guilt will be abolished forever.

If you wish further elucidation of these points, my first book, Wilderness Cry, is just now being released worldwide by Covenant Books. It describes in detail all these concepts and many, many more. Its sequel, Peace in Spirituality has just been submitted for publication. Hopefully it will be available in a few months.

As always, I welcome any and all discussion and/or comments.
